bottom_margin=&#8221;30px&#8221; color=&#8221;#000000&#8243; font_size=&#8221;14px&#8221;]You are sitting down<br \/>\nto a late lunch<br \/>\nin my castle on a hill<\/p>\n<p>while a jazz trio plays<\/p>\n<p>then suddenly<br \/>\na chemical reaction<br \/>\ntakes place\u2014<\/p>\n<p>and you smell<br \/>\nthe scent of roses and feel<br \/>\nmy hair growing<\/p>\n<p>on every part of your skin<\/p>\n<p>but not the palms<br \/>\nof my hands or the soles<br \/>\nof your feet<\/p>\n<p>Day One<\/p>\n<p>I am standing<br \/>\nin front of a group of musicians<br \/>\ncontrolling<\/p>\n<p>the speed of sound<\/p>\n<p>then suddenly<br \/>\na chemical reaction<br \/>\ntakes place\u2014<\/p>\n<p>saliva pools behind<br \/>\nyour teeth sinuous the rhythms<br \/>\nunder my skin<\/p>\n<p>your lips move<\/p>\n<p>audible inaudible<br \/>\nand I begin to chant a secret<br \/>\ntribal language<\/p>\n<p>Day Two<\/p>\n<p>In a triangle of haze<br \/>\nand smoke I am following<br \/>\na marching band<\/p>\n<p>appear and disappear<\/p>\n<p>then suddenly<br \/>\na chemical reaction<br \/>\ntakes place\u2014<\/p>\n<p>spirals of veins pulsate<br \/>\nnerves and tendons drink color<br \/>\nsight smell taste<\/p>\n<p>pale and red your lips<\/p>\n<p>my tongue protrudes<br \/>\nfrom your mouth and I taste<br \/>\nthe rain<\/p>\n<p>Day Three<\/p>\n<p>You are hanging<br \/>\nupside down and side to side<br \/>\nI swing<\/p>\n<p>earth air fire water<\/p>\n<p>then suddenly<br \/>\na chemical reaction<br \/>\ntakes place\u2014<\/p>\n<p>I am a barley plant<br \/>\ncut down dead white the barley<br \/>\nplant cut down<\/p>\n<p>you are a pouched mammal<\/p>\n<p>attached to a nipple<br \/>\nmother and father crawled<br \/>\nonto the land<\/p>\n<p>Day Four<\/p>\n<p>I am flapping<br \/>\nmy right hand and your left<br \/>\nhand is balled into a fist<\/p>\n<p>the universe contracts e x p a n d s<\/p>\n<p>then suddenly<br \/>\na chemical reaction<br \/>\ntakes place\u2014<\/p>\n<p>the smell of saffron<br \/>\nand lilac morning to evening<br \/>\nevening to morning<\/p>\n<p>milk of the mother misery<\/p>\n<p>milk of the father terror<br \/>\nvigilant the babe sucking carnal\/<br \/>\nspiritual<\/p>\n<p>Day Five<\/p>\n<p>Through the gaps<br \/>\nof my fingers vibrating subatomic<br \/>\nparticles blink in and out<\/p>\n<p>vertical\/ horizontal<\/p>\n<p>then suddenly<br \/>\na chemical reaction<br \/>\ntakes place\u2014<\/p>\n<p>a breast vein<br \/>\nas thick as a finger amorous<br \/>\nthe greedy seed<\/p>\n<p>every day bears the data<\/p>\n<p>grain grape bread<br \/>\nand wine your skeletal frame<br \/>\nthe limbs spreading apart<\/p>\n<p>Day Six<\/p>\n<p>Behind you<br \/>\na black line appears disappears<br \/>\na latent image<\/p>\n<p>a wall of brown dust<\/p>\n<p>then suddenly<br \/>\na chemical reaction<br \/>\ntakes place\u2014<\/p>\n<p>a black line curved<br \/>\nlike an embrace lay your hand<br \/>\nfeel the bones<\/p>\n<p>under my skin<\/p>\n<p>your sculpted pelvis<br \/>\nvertical\/ horizontal corkscrews<br \/>\nof white smoke<\/p>\n<p>Day Seven<\/p>\n<p>In the twenty-first century<br \/>\nthe here-and-now in the zone<br \/>\ndiverging<\/p>\n<p>from a course of events<\/p>\n<p>then suddenly<br \/>\na chemical reaction takes<br \/>\nplace\u2014<\/p>\n<p>a metallic taste on<br \/>\nmy tongue I am an old<br \/>\nwoman<\/p>\n<p>sipping black tea<\/p>\n<p>you are a little boy<br \/>\nsitting cross-legged under<br \/>\na dead blue glow[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1742914303900{margin-top: 25px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;
